Design of the 2022 1/10 Oz Gold Krugerrand

The 1/10 Oz gold Krugerrand coin features an image of Paul Kruger on the front of the coin. Kruger was South Africa’s first and only president, and a highly influential figure in the history of the country. Around his hear are the words, ‘Sud-Afrika’ and ‘South Africa’, the country’s name in the two official languages of South Africa – English and Afrikaans.

The reverse sid of the coin features a Springbok, which is a type of Antelope, jumping in a field. The top of the coin features the words 1/10 Krugerrand, with the coin’s year of minting to the left and right of the image. On the bottom the coin is its size of 1/10 Ounce, with the words ‘Fine Gold’ and ‘Fyngoud’ written on either side.

A History of the Krugerrand

The Krugerrand gold coin was first launched by the Rand Refinery in 1967, and was an instant success. Physical bullion investing was growing in popularity at that time, and the Krugerrand was the main gold bullion coin available to investors other than the British Sovereign.
