Design of the 2023 Chinese Panda Gold Coin
The Chinese Panda gold coin is issued annually by the China Mint. The coin features an image of the iconic bear on the front, and the image is updated annually. The front of each coin features the famous ‘Temple of Heaven’ in Beijing. The coin’s year of minting, 2023, is located at the bottom of the coin.
The reverse side of the coin features an image of two Pandas sitting in a tree. They are reaching out towards each other, with their paws held out. The coin’s legal tender value of 200 Yuan is imprinted towards the bottom of the coin. Near the top of the coin, its purity of 999 and its weight of 15 grams can be located.
About the Chinese Panda Coin Series
The Chinese Panda coin is produced by the China Mint, which is wholly owned by the People's Bank of China. The coin series was first launched in 1982 in gold and in silver in 1983. Each year, the image of the Panda is updated on the coin. In 2016, the China Mint changed the format of the coins to be denominated in grams instead of ounces. Today, they are the only major bullion coin in circulation that is not denominated in ounces.
The Chinese Panda coin series is released in limited mintages annually, with the majority of sales going to the domestic market in China.
