Asahi

Asahi is a globally-renown refinery that has 200 years of experience and innovation in the precious metals industry.

Their production methods, attention to detail, and stellar reputation make them one of the top sources for practically any precious metal bullion you can think of, and the availability of their products globally makes them an excellent brand for any investment portfolio.

History

Asahi boasts 200 years of experience in the precious metals refining industry, but that isn't a consistent stretch under a single ownership entity. Instead, the Asahi name was founded in 1952, and it began building a global name for itself up to its 2015 acquisition by Johnson Matthey.

However, the lack of a consistent timeline under one owner has not impacted the sheer quality of Asahi’s bullion products. It is largely regarded as one of the top refineries in the world, and the 2015 acquisition made it a household name among investors due to Matthey’s dedication to expansion.

By combining the refinery’s excellent track record for quality control and precision with Matthey’s drive for expansion, Asahi became a London Good Delivery refinery. This elevated the company’s top-tier bullion to financial and commercial grade currency with official recognition.

The company sells a variety of precious metals, but its most sought-after products are its gold and silver bullion bars. This is largely due to the company's rich history as a recycling and refining service that specialized in gold and silver since its debut in 1952.

Asahi is a Japanese company that boasts the finest technological advances Japan’s refining industry has to offer. It has built a reputation under its own name since 1952, and now boasts the 160 years of refining experience acquired by Johnson Matthey. Complete with an updated mold design, easier international accessibility, and an unmatched dedication to quality, Asahi stands out as one of the top refineries of precious metals in the world.

Products

Asahi sells a variety of products, but its top three offerings are its gold bars, silver bars, and silver rounds. We'll detail each of these individually, as Asahi's private mint status allows it to set its products apart in some interesting ways.

Asahi Gold Bars:

Asahi's gold bars come in two varieties; one-ounce and ten-ounce bullion bars. While the price fluctuates with the gold market as any other bullion bar does, the premium per bar remains quite low at around 2%-3%. This variety of bar is an excellent option for investors looking to buy bullion based purely on its price.

Each bar, regardless of size, contains .9999% pure gold and is made new; not recycled or reused. The obverse, or top, of the gold bar, contains the size label in troy ounces, the Asahi identifying label, and the purity rating of the bar. The reverse features a repeating pattern of the Asahi logo.

These gold bars come with an assay providing certification of genuineness and a serial number for authentication purposes.

Asahi Silver Bars:

Asahi's silver bars follow the same quality standards for attention to detail and precision as the company's renowned gold bars.

You can find the Asahi silver bars in 10-ounce, 100-ounce, and 1-kilo variants; again, measured using the troy system per industry standard. This provides ample purchasing options in various price ranges to appease every investor’s preference.

All of these silver bars are fully engraved with all identifying markings using the company’s newly designed molds that came with the Johnson Matthey acquisition. The obverse side of the bars contains the Asahi logo, the purity rating, weight, and metal type as guaranteed by Asahi. On the reverse side, Asahi's silver bars feature the same repeating logo pattern that the gold bars do.

Each bar, regardless of size, is .999% fine silver and comes with identifying serial numbers guaranteed by Asahi to assure high-quality craftsmanship.

Is also worth noting that the Johnson Matthey company, the new owner of Asahi, has over 160 years of experience in silver refining which greatly boosts the desirability of Asahi silver bars.

Asahi Silver Rounds:

Asahi’s silver rounds are great beginner investments, and make a perfect choice for individuals prefering rounds to coins.

Asahi’s silver rounds boast the same high-quality refining standards as the company’s bars, but they only come in a one-ounce option that is of course measured via the troy system. This small size and easy stack-ability of the design are why rounds are such an easily manageable option. Furthermore, the silver rounds sell at a much lower premium to silver coins, making them a popular alternative.

The obverse of Asahi rounds is engraved with identifying markings for fine silver, purity, the mint’s name, and the weight of the round. On the reverse, each round has the same repeated logo engraving that the bars boast.
