Towards the bottom of the coin are its weight of 1 kilogram, its purity of 9999, and its legal tender value. Each 1 Kilogram silver Rabbit coin has a legal tender value of $30 AUD, which means that the coins are backed by the government of Australia to that value.
The reverse side of these coins features an image of two rabbits. One is sitting quietly on the ground, while the second is eating berries from a branch. The words 'Rabbit' are inscried on the coin in both English and Chinese, and the coin's year of minting, 2023, also appears on the right hand side of the coin.
About the Perth Mint
The Perth Mint is the main mint in Australia, and they mint both currency and bullion coins on behalf of the government of Australia. Founded in 1899, the Mint was originally a branch of the Royal Mint. Initially, the mint's main task was to convert gold that had been mined in Australia into gold Sovereigns, which could then be used and traded at the ports throughout the British Empire. The Perth Mint remained under at least partial control of the Royal Mint until the early 1980s. It was at this time the the mint began to release its wide range of bullion products, starting with the Kangaroo or Nugget coin, which was first released in 1986.
Since then, the mint has released a wide range of bullion products, including both the Lunar series and Kangaroo coin which now appear in gold, silver, and platinum. Other coins include the Koala and Kookaburra coins, and the mint also has an extensive range of gold and silver bars. The Perth Mint's bullion products are recognised worldwide for their competitive premiums and their highly artistic designs.
