Coin Design and Features
The obverse of the coin proudly displays the Somalian coat of arms, featuring a central shield adorned with a solitary star. The shield is elegantly framed by dual palm leaves and spears, with two leopards standing guard on either side. The inscription 'Somali Republic' is prominently placed at the top, while the year of minting, 2024, is meticulously engraved on either side of the shield. The coin’s face value of 1,000 Shillings is clearly marked at the base.
The reverse side of the coin captures the majestic African Elephant, depicted in the act of pulling leaves from a branch with its trunk. This striking scene is set against a backdrop dominated by a radiant sun and a solitary Baobab tree on the horizon. The top of the coin features the words 'African Wildlife', while the bottom highlights the inscription 'Elephant' to the left, and the coin’s weight, purity, and metal content to the right.
