Design of the 2020 1 KG Gold Kangaroo Coin

The Australian Kangaroo Coin is produced by the Perth Mint in Australia. Initially it was released as a 'Gold Nugget' coin, in 1986. However, in 1989, the design of these coins was changed to a Kangaroo instead. The front of the coin features an image of Queen Elizabeth II, and the reverse features an image of a Kangaroo. The image of the Kangaroo is updated each year.

The front of each coin features a portrait image of Queen Elizabeth II. Around the outside of the coin the words 'Elizabeth II' and 'Australia' are written. At the bottom of the coin is its face value of $3000 AUD.

The reverse side of the coin features an image of a Red Kangaroo hopping. The outside of the coin says 'Australian Kangaroo, 1 Kilo, 9999 Gold, 2020. 

The Kangaroo series is unique in that the image of the Kangaroo is updated annually, making these coins popular with both investors and collectors alike. This is one of the only gold coins that is avaialble in a 1 KG size, giving investors the option to invest in a gold coin in a large denomination, instead of a gold bar. 

The Kangaroo gold coin is available in a wide range of sizes, including 1 Ounce, 1/2 Ounce, 1/4 Ounce and 1/10 Ounce sizes.

These 1 KG gold coins are sold sealed in their own plastic capsule to prevent damage. These coins are 24 karat gold bullion, making them succeptible to damage and scratching, as the gold is softer when it is purer.
