About the 1 Oz Gold Libertad Coin

The Mexican 1 Ounce Gold Libertad coin is the only ounce denominated gold coin issued by the Mexico Mint. The Libertad series is the most popular series sold by the Mexican Mint, and it is currently available in gold and in silver. The dsign of the Libertad coin remains the same each year. This is the official gold coin of Mexico. 

The front side of each coin features an image of the statue of the Angel of Victory. In the background are two of Mexico's most famous volcanoes. Around the outside of the coin are written its weight of 1 ounce, its purity, and its metal type. Each coin contains 999 fine investment grade gold bullion.

The reverse side of each coin features the current Mexican coat of arms in the middle, with the 13 previous coats of arms surround it. The gold Libertad coin is considered a legal tender coin as it is issued by the government of Mexico. However, it does not have a face value like most gold coins. 

The design of the gold Mexican Libertad coin is based on the design of the 50 Peso gold coin, which was discontinued in 2009. The 50 Peso gold coin is the only other gold coin that was produced by the Mexico Mint. However, these coins were denominated in grams, not ounces.
