Design of the 2023 Silver Rabbit Coin
The 2023 Lunar Series III Rabbit coin features a portrait image of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the front. The queen is looking over her left shoulder. The words 'Elizabeth II' and 'Australia' are inscribed above her head. Beneath her portrait are the coin's weight of 1/2 Oz, the purity of the coin, and the coin's face value. Each 1/2 Oz Rabbit coin has a purity of 9999, and a legal tender value of 0.50 AUD.
The reverse side of the coin features two bunnies, sitting in a patch of grass, and eating berries from a branch. The words 'Rabbit' and '2023' are inscribed on the coin.
About the Lunar Series
The Perth Mint lunar series is a series of coin issued in line with the Chinese lunar calendar. There are 12 years in total, and each features a different animal whose characteristics are supposed to represent the upcoming year. The series is currently in its third release of 12, meaning that this is the third Rabbit coin that has been released by the Perth Mint.
The series is available in gold, silver and in platinum.
