Design of the Silver Britannia 100 Ounce Bar

The front of the 100 Ounce silver bar features the Royal Mint name and logo at the very top of the bar. Beneath the logo is the bar's weight of 100 troy ounces, its purity of 999, and finally the words 'fine silver'. The background of the bar is covered with a repeating wave pattern, and an image of waves at the bottom of the bar. 

The reverse side of the bar features an image of Lady Britannia, holding a trident in her left hand, and a shield in the right. The word 'Britannia' is located on the shield, and the shield features an image of the British flag. A repeating wave pattern covers the front and the back of the bar. The image of Lady Britannia is one that originates from the time of the Roman Empire, when Lady Britannia was used to represent Britain in its role as part in the Empire. The image of Britannia first appeared on Roman coinage around 54AD, and has featured on coins several times since then. 

About the Britannia Bar Series

The Britannia bar series was first introduced by the Royal Mint in 2018. The bar was released in silver, in 10 ounce and 100 ounce sizes, and in gold in a 1 ounce size. Since then, the Royal Mint has also introduced the gold Britannia bar in a range of other sizes, including 10 gram and 100 gram sized bars, and a 1 ounce platinum Britannia bar. 

The Britannia bar was launched as a response to the success of the Britannia coin series, which is also released by the Royal Mint. Britannia silver coins are only available in a 1 ounce size, so the Britannia bar series is an excellent way for investors to be able to buy British silver bullion in larger denominated units. 

The Royal Mint also issues the Sovereign coin, which is available in gold.
