Design of the 2023 Silver Maple Leaf
The silver Maple Leaf coin features a similar design each year, and the design of the coin has remained the same since it was first launched in 1988. The front of each coin features a portrait image of Queen Elizabeth II. This design has been updated several times to reflect her current appearance. The top of each coin features the words 'Elizabeth II', while the bottom of the coin features the coin's legal tender value and year of minting. Each 1 Ounce silver Maple Leaf coin has a legal tender value of $5 CAD, which means that the government of Canada has agreed to guarantee the value of the coin to that amount.
The reverse side of the coin features an image of a Canadian Maple Leaf, which is the official symbol of Canada. At the top of the coin the word 'CANADA' is inscribed. The bottom of the coin features its size, and the words 'Fine Silver' and 'Argent Pur' the words are written in both English and French, as both are official languages in Canada. The Maple Leaf silver coin's purity of 9999 is also inscribed to the left and the right of the Maple Leaf image. This coin is unique as it is one of the few silver coins that is available with such a high purity.
The tube of 25 Maple Leafs is sold in a plastic tube with a yellow top that is issued by the Royal Canadian Mint.
