Design of the 2022 Silver Kangaroo Coin
The silver Kangaroo coin was first released in 2016 by the Perth Mint, and has been hugely popular since then. It was released in order to compete with the already popular silver Maple Leaf coin, and has been competitively priced at a low percentage premium over the spot silver price.
Each coin features a portrait image of Queen Elizabeth II drawn by Jody Clark on the front. The coin says ‘Elizabeth II’ and ‘Australia’ at the top. The bottom of the front of each coin features its legal tender value of $1 AUD. These coins are backed by the government of Australia.
The reverse side of each coin features a red Kangaroo hopping. The top of the coin says ‘Australian Kangaroo’. the bottom of each coin says its year of minting, size, purity and metal type. These coins contain 9999 fine investment grade silver bullion, making them the purest silver coins available on the market. The silver Kangaroo coin is currently only available in a 1 Ounce sizes however, tubes of 25 coins and monster boxes of 250 coins are also available.
The Kangaroo Series
The Kangaroo Series is launched annually by the Perth Mint in Australia, and is available in gold, silver and platinum. Originally launched in gold in 1987, the coin was hugely popular and demand for it has continued to grow since. In 2016 the coin was launched in silver, and in 2017 in platinum.
Perth Mint Silver Bullion
The Perth Mint releases a wide range of silver bullion coins to investors annually. These include the Perth Mint Lunar series, which is updated annually, and the Perth Mint Kangaroo series. The Koala and Kookaburra are also available with an updated image annually. These coins are unique as they are available in larger sizes, including 10 ounce and 1 kilogram silver coins. These are popular with silver investors who prefer to purchase coins over bars. The silver Swan series is also released annually.
