Design of the 2022 Silver Philharmonic Coin
The silver Philharmonic coin has featured the same design each year since it was first launched in 2008. The front of each coin features a series of instruments that are used by the world famous Vienna Philharmonic. The top of the coin features the words 'Wiener Philharmoniker'. The reverse side of each coin features the famous organ from the concert hall located in Vienna, Austria. At the top of the image are the words 'Republik Osterreich'. The coin's year of minting, 2022 and the coin's face value of €1.50.
About the Philharmonic Coin Series
The Philharmonic coin series was first launched in 1989 in gold, and was originally denominated in Schillings. In 2002, when Austria adopted the Euro, the coin's legal tender value was changed to Euros instead of Schillings. The Austrian Mint subsequently launched the Philharmonic coin in silver in 2008, and in platinum in 2016. The series is the main precious metals series to be used by the Austrian Mint, and it is the primary bullion coin within the Euro zone.
